Guided Meditation Inspires Grandma to Step into Greatness“Guided meditation is a process by which one meditates in response to the guidance provided by a trained practitioner or teacher. Using a sound recording or video comprising music or verbal instruction, or a combination of both”.

Do you often times feel stuck, unsure of what you are doing, who you are, where you are really going? I know exactly how you feel. That is right where I’d been for a few years. It all changed for me with one step in a challenge. Read on to learn how you can get unstuck, too.

My business coach had presented a 14-day goal setting challenge to me right before the end of the year. It wasn’t until day six that I found myself deep in meditation, guided meditation to see the woman I will become.

Preparing for a guided mediation took a few minutes. I needed quiet and focus to release all the noise chattering in my head in order to receive the peaceful, focused picture of my future self. I was relieved to learn that guided meditation is NOT hypnosis as I initially thought it might be. Retreating to my office, I shut the door turning off my phones and closing the blinds to prevent any distraction. Now I could focus on my coach’s voice as she guided me, step by step. As I relaxed picturing myself as a tree, I felt the tingle of my roots plunging deep into the earth.

A bright, golden yellow and orange beam of light descended from above, beckoning me to step up and out of where I was stuck. As if on an escalator, the smooth ascension allowed me to see my future self. The light got brighter, my joy glowed like a hot coal as I realized my happiness did not come from my accomplishments. My joy came from helping others as we worked side by side to help others.

I saw myself unburdened, relaxed and enjoying each breath and moment spent with my husband, kids, and grandkids. We soaked in each experience as we walked through this stage of our lives together.

Leaving behind the high heels, nylons and polyester business suits, I’m wearing my signature blue jeans, cotton top and wiggling my bare toes in the sand. Sharing each step with my team, they too are kicking business attire to the curb, opting for comfort and earthiness instead.

Immersed in studying the Bible, the best business book in the world, I’m learning from its timeless principles. Treating others as I want to be treated is attracting others to our team. Women from around the world are reaching out to me to help them, too.

All of a sudden, I smell the crisp, clean ocean air, salty and cool. The seagulls are screeching in the distance while the sea lions barking on the rocks below. In the faint distance, I hear the clanging of the bells on the jetty point, warning incoming sailors of danger.

As the glowing yellow-orange beam began to beckon once more, one last look, the woman I see in the glass waves with a warm “see you soon my friend, you’ve got this”!

This is a glimpse into what it was like to experience a guided meditation. It was like a symbolic release of the old and welcoming the new me of the future. I promised myself this year was going to be different. I had heard for years that hiring a business coach was the difference between realizing goals and remaining stuck. Leaving my comfort zone has never been easy; but, this year it’s time to leave it for good.

I’m so grateful to my coach for sharing this challenge with me. Now I am able to share it with you. Stretching out of my comfort zone will help me help more women achieve what they want out of life, too.

I’ve recorded myself reading this so you can hear the way I felt right after going through this exercise. Click here to listen. If this helped you to see past today and into your tomorrow, please share with a friend. Keep dreaming, keep pushing and growing outside of your comfort zone. Soon your dreams will become reality, too.
