Change Are You Ready For What Lies AheadChange, we all know it is coming. Yet many of us are not prepared for what those changes will do to our daily lives. Just yesterday we all experienced the eclipse of the sun and moon. Scientists have studied the phenomenon for years and will continue to do so. NASA, our government’s space program uses the data to learn about other planets. One thing both groups agree on is that with the moon moving in front of the sun and its energy, causes change on the earth. What can we learn from the cool eclipse of 2017 to help us confront and overcome life’s changes?

As a working woman over 50, I got to enjoy having my grandsons with us to watch the earth change right before our eyes. Did you notice the flowers close up as if it were nighttime? Did you notice the birds get very quiet as if the cover of night were upon us? Even traffic was quiet for a while during the darkness. The change we experienced yesterday was being able to leave the office without asking. We allowed the boys to spend the night, not worrying about daycare the next day. When the eclipse started at 10:10 AM I left my projects and spent the next 3 hours playing with the kids and Sophie outside. Finally, I was present, really present with the kids not worrying about work at all. My focus was on them and sharing solar glasses so our delicate eyes weren’t fried; we ate snacks, drank water and just enjoyed being with each other.

You may wonder what changed for me. Many other women over 50 like me may not have children we are responsible for getting to daycare either. We may not have strict supervisors like we had in the past. But, one thing that does change when working at home is freedom becomes part of our daily lives. Nothing can change your life as much as being able to do what you want, when you want; nothing. Don’t get me wrong, we can’t play all day every day; no, we must work when it’s time to work. But, boy oh boy, when it’s time to play, play we do.

I hope you enjoyed this peek inside The Fiery Grandma’s work day. If you have questions about a life’s change you are confronted by I’d love for you to leave a comment below. Together, let’s confront those issues, put them to bed and begin living that retirement lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of.
